Transit times from China to Uzbekistan: road, rail, air and ocean in one table

Honest door-to-door ranges for road, rail, air and ocean: where the week-long spread comes from, what actually shortens it and what merely sounds good.

Published 5 min read

Any transit figure without the words «door to door» is misleading. «12 days» from departure station to arrival station becomes 18 once you add factory pickup, export clearance, transhipment at the border, import clearance and the last mile. Below are the ranges we actually see in practice.

ModeDoor to doorWhat drives the spreadWhen to choose
Air3–5 daysflight, supplier's export documentsurgent, high-value, up to 500 kg
Road10–14 daysqueue at Khorgos, seasonexact address, fragile, no transhipment
Railfrom 18 daysbogie exchange at Dostykregular purchasing, container volumes
Ocean + road35–45 daysliner schedules, Bandar Abbas3–4+ containers, timing not critical

What actually shortens transit

  • Documents before departure: a verified invoice and a pre-selected HS code remove 2–4 days of waiting at the border.
  • A transit declaration filed in advance — the container goes in the first transhipment batch, not the third.
  • Cargo ready for the train date: arriving at the terminal a day late costs a week waiting for the next slot.
  • Certificates obtained before arrival — the cargo does not sit in temporary storage while they are issued.
